Our ambitious goal is to raise £100,000 to fund vital conservation efforts, including rewilding forests and safeguarding habitat corridors. Until 12 noon on 10th December, every gift made during this campaign will be matched, meaning your support will go twice as far in helping us protect orangutans and their rainforest homes.
🌳 Protect, Connect and Rewild Forests: Safeguard vital orangutan habitats, giving wildlife space to thrive.
🏘️ Empower Forest-Edge Communities: Support the communities living alongside orangutans to become forest guardians.
🌍 Combat the Climate Crisis: Restore degraded landscapes and protect carbon-rich ecosystems, helping to stabilise our planet’s climate.
Orangutans are incredible creatures. They act as ecosystem engineers, helping to maintain the health of their rainforest habitats. By spreading seeds and shaping the forest, they support a thriving ecosystem for countless species – plants, insects, animals, and more.
The forests they call home are being lost due to farming, logging, and road-building. These human activities are fragmenting their habitat, leaving orangutans with less space to roam, feed, and breed. Without urgent action, we risk losing these incredible creatures and the diverse rainforest ecosystems they help sustain.
Sumatra’s rainforests are a treasure trove of biodiversity! From majestic orangutans to elusive tigers, these forests are home to some of the most amazing creatures on the planet (many of which are found nowhere else).
North Sumatra’s rainforests are also vital to the many millions of people who live here – they act as watersheds, absorbing huge amounts of rainfall, reducing the risks of floods, landslides, and soil erosion.
Rainforests are vital carbon sinks, absorbing huge amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and helping to combat the effects of climate change. By safeguarding these ecosystems, we’re not only ensuring orangutans have a place to live, but we’re also fighting climate chaos.
By donating today, you will support vital work to protect, connect and rewild the rainforest habitats that wild orangutans and so many other species rely on.
