How We're Planting Seeds of Sustainable Development

The wellbeing and prosperity of the people of Sumatra are inextricably linked to the fate of the forests – we cannot protect one at the expense of the other.

This is the core idea at the heart of “Seeds of Sustainable Development” in our conservation toolkit. Working through our indispensable frontline partners, and together with local communities in orangutan landscapes, we’re developing conservation action plans which break the link between development and habitat degradation. In March, we explored how our community-centred programmes are safeguarding orangutans and paving the way for a sustainable future where both people and nature thrive.
