Every year, Black Friday encourages frantic spending both on- and off-line, with well-publicised chaos ensuing in some places around the world. However, there is a growing movement away from Black Friday. Known as Green Friday or Forest Friday, the movement places focus on spending time with loved ones, being outdoors and spending money on worthwhile causes or charities, rather than on bargains you probably don’t need.
With this in mind, several of our corporate partners have put together special packages of support for us this Green Friday, showing their commitment to a better future for orangutans, their forests and the planet as a whole.
On Green Friday, Tentsile will give 2% of proceeds from sales of their amazing tree tents to our Rainforest Home appeal. Read their blog here to find out more.
From November 23rd-26th, TAMGA Designs will give 25% of sales to our forest restoration projects in Sumatra. They’ve also released limited edition ‘More Trees Please’ t-shirts, with $10 from each t-shirt sale also going to our projects.
Instead of Black Friday, Komodo we will be doing ‘Orange Friday’ from 23rd-26th November, and for every £10/€10 you spend, they will plant a tree at our restoration sites in Sumatra.
Finally, if Black Friday adverts are making you ponder starting to buy Christmas presents for the people you care about, you can also be a greener shopper by spending your money with small, ethical businesses such as our partners Tommy and Lottie and Stonesfield Soap. Alternatively, you can buy prints of our gorgeous Rainforest Home mural directly from the artists by clicking here.
