Suzi Eszterhas is an award-winning wildlife photographer best known for her work documenting newborn animals and family life in the wild. Zac Mills lives for adventure and feels at home in some of the wildest places on our planet. A former World Bank economist, Zac turned to a life behind the lens to photograph some of the world’s most iconic species. In 2013, he saw his first Sumatran orangutan in the wild, which filled him with amazement and concern. Since then, he travels to Sumatra regularly to document these incredibly intelligent animals and highlight the conservation challenges they face. He believes that we have lost empathy with the environment and all the animals who share this unique planet with us. It has become ‘them and us’; we are no longer a part of their world, and they are not part of ours. He also believes that we all possess an incredibly strong affinity to wildlife, but our daily lives and stresses in our detached, concrete world has interrupted the flow between us and weakened our bonds with nature. He therefore uses photography to rebuild our connections to our forgotten relatives, and allow empathy to replace the apathy that has crept between us in recent times.
