ODE TO PONGO PYGMAEUS
Graceful ladies - red hair flowing
Dominant males - cheek pads growing
Soft brown eyes and liquid movements
So close to our genetic blue prints
Babies clamped on until they're seven
Red hairs mingling as though they're woven
'Give me a child until he is seven'
(You're so clever - straight from heaven?)
'And I will give you the man'
(Is this where the saying began?)
You epitomize how we should become
In harmony with nature, every one
No carbon footprints can be detected
A regenerating eco system perfected
But we - with our extra three per cent
Have followed life's circle and no doubt bent
Evolutionary rules and the world's master plan
To fulfil our greed - we are consumer man!
With three per cent more on the balance sheet
We can shift the profits - our targets meet
Just three per cent difference between you and me
So rotten we are - and so pure are thee
Just one small island on this God given planet
Three great nations have the power to ruin it
Three great nations hold the key
To turn back the tide of this misery
But between these three, there can be no doubt
They abuse their powers, the laws they flout
All for lumber and palm oil exports
They will willingly kill the closest sorts
Known to us - Homo sapiens
And turn blind eyes to your sufferings
To add insult to injury - (rather death in your case)
They'll kill you parents and still give chase
And steal your babies to lock them tight
In tiny caged boxes to contain their fright
And parade them around for years and years
Oblivious conscience to their nightmare fears
How can your cousins be so cruel?
Perhaps the way forward is to change the rule?
Now I see it very clear - this is our test
It shall be our quest
Don't think of the problem as too large for you
Think of solutions two by two
Two plus two plus two compounded
Will soon see the issue fully confounded
If a human being was treated the very same way
The guilty would be jailed for a life and a day
Perhaps 'human rights' could prove a court case
With genes this close - we are ethnically cleansing a race!
So ethically important is your future -
I dare to hope there is a creature
Who could pick up the mantle - act quickly and fast
Put a stop to this atrocity before the dice is cast....
